UniverSOUL Hip Hop, LLC is a K-12 cultural educational group of international, award-winning artists and educators. We artfully blend the creativity of Hip Hop with the rigor of standards-based pedagogy and practices to provide cutting edge, interdisciplinary dance programs that cultivate lifelong learning, social fellowship, and 21st century success.
Theatre Of Hearts, Inc. was founded as a nonprofit corporation in 1987 to promote understanding between people through cultural and artistic forums and to empower local communities through education in the arts. In the wake of civil unrest in Los Angeles in 1992, Theatre Of Hearts initiated our Youth First Artist-In-Residence (AIR) Program. Our mission is to prevent and intervene in youth violence by involving underserved, at-risk youth, ages 4-18, in long-term high quality, multidisciplinary, standards-based arts educational workshops throughout Los Angeles County.
The Symphonic Jazz Orchestra (SJO) believes in the power of music to transform individuals, schools and communities. Created in 2002, the SJO is the only organization of its kind in the country, uniquely dedicated to blending the worlds of jazz and classical music with a mission to inspire and educate through its “Music in the Schools” residency program and free community concerts and to commission and perform symphonic jazz compositions in concerts across Southern California.
Aman Dance Educators present the Creative World Dance Curriculum, a unique program that teaches students dances from around the world and leads them through creative activities that expand their understanding of their bodies in action as tools for communication. Students will expand their knowledge in geography, history and culture, and gain skills in cooperation, coordination, creativity and rhythm. The curriculum includes dances from Europe, Asia, Africa and North America.
The Santa Clarita PAC K-12 Arts Education Outreach Program provides exceptional workshops, residencies, assemblies & bus-in opportunities for schools and students. Our roster continues to grow as we add new teaching artists and workshop choices as well as exceptional assembly programs. All of our programming meets or exceeds California’s Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) standards, and many of them support the California State Common Core Standards.
Palos Verdes Art Center / Beverly G. Alpay Center for Arts Education inspires individuals to create, appreciate and celebrate art. Since its founding in 1991, P.S. ARTS' purpose has been to ensure high-quality, sustainable arts education for children in under-resourced public schools. Our programs are designed and continuously revised to be in alignment with the needs of the communities we serve, contributing to children's wellbeing and elevating their future school and career prospects. P.S. ARTS was created in response to significant education budget cuts in the 1970s and 1980s that resulted in the near elimination of arts programs in California public schools. MKM BollyStars is a dynamic dance company that prides itself for its high quality performers, rich dance heritage, & authenticity of dance styles. Energetic, graceful, and passionate, the company comprises of versatile industry dancers straight out of Hollywood. A rich dance heritage, a visionary artistic director, and a cultural and creatively diverse team, provide the backbone for what transpires to be truly memorable and statement driven work. MKM Bollystars is the only company in Los Angeles that professionally covers the span of Indian dance from Classical to Bollywood.
Each year we serve 20,000-27,000 youth ages 5-18. This year we have also renewed our family classic The Patchwork Girl of Oz, touring to NC, also sponsored locally by the Children's Literature Department of the LA Central Library. We also produce the annual San Pedro Festival of the Arts, which presents 20-24 professional dance companies. Thousands of sponsors include LA County Museum of Art, Mark Taper Auditorium, and Kidspace; we tour locally for the LA and SB County School Districts, expanding to 22 states, MX and Taipei.
