On Friday, April 27, educators from 24 school districts attended the District Arts Coordinator Meet-up at the A.C. Bilbrew Library and Willowbrook Senior Center, presented in partnership with the LA County Office of Education. Attendees networked, shared successes, and learned from colleagues. Pauline Kamiyama from Civic Art led a tour of the art collections at the library. Tarcio Lara of Valencia Arts Academy in Pico Rivera led a conversation about culturally relevant and sustaining pedagogy. The day ended with a conversation about engaging arts and cultural assets in our own communities and looking ahead to opportunities for 2018–19.
